At the end of a secluded country valley, Maurice sits on his verandah, telling his story. It all seemed to fall apart about a year ago. He and his wife Ida had spent a lifetime scratching out a living on their crumbling old property. The only other people to inhabit this isolated pocket of country, were Jacob - content to wanter his orchards by day and listen to old Jim Reeves albums by night, and Ronnie - a freaked-out wild child from the city with a drug habit, and inside her, a growing baby. Though they were neighbours, it wasn't until Ronnie discovered her Muscovy ducks had been killed that this unlikely quartet first come together. Maurice already had a theory. He suspected an oversized feral cat. Jacob and Ronnie, both strangers to this place, were suspicious of Maurice and his theory.
